Here are some of our top tips for sewing stretch fabric.
1. Invest in some ballpoint needles. These are perfect for knits because the tip is slightly rounded. This means they push between the loops of the fabric, rather than piercing holes in the fabric.
2. If you don't have a cover stitch machine try a twin needle. These work brilliantly because they will do a perfect row of double stitching on top, and a neat little zig-zag on the bottom.
3. No overlocker no problem! Simply use a zig zag stitch which will stretch with your fabric.
4. Worried about hemming? Why not leave a raw edge? Knit fabric won't fray, it's saves sewing time and can add a stylish finish to your garment.
5. Don't forget to always check the direction of the stretch before you cut out your pattern. You want the fabric to stretch horizontally across your body.
This is a great pattern to get you started sewing stretch fabrics. Even if you are a pro I would highly recommend the Nora as it is quick to sew and a stylish wardrobe stable with high and round neck options and two different sleeve lengths.

This lovely soft loop back jersey is made from modal fibre. Modal is a natural fibre which is derived from beech tree cellulose and is considered an eco-friendly alternative to other fibres. It has an almost silky handle and a lovely soft drape making it great for clothing such as wrap dresses.
