Haberdashery is the collective name for the notions and finishing supplies
used in sewing, dressmaking and soft furnishing projects. It includes items
like elastic, bias binding, ribbons, tapes, zips and interfacing, as well as
specialist supplies for curtain and blind making.

Bias binding is cut on the diagonal grain of fabric, giving it a slight stretch so it
can curve neatly around edges like necklines and armholes. Tapes, such as twill
are cut straight and are used for structure and strength rather than flexibility.

Curtain making typically requires header tape to create the
heading style, along with hooks for hanging and operating the
finished piece. The right combination depends on the heading style and whether
