The Arts & Crafts movement in Britain began in the late 19th Century, with many of the artists involved in the movement being heavily influenced by William Morris. Born as a response to industrialism, the Arts & Crafts style focused on simple and honest craftsmanship, something which seems as on trend today as it did in 1890! Although the style obviously sits well within an Art & Crafts architecture there is no reason why elements can't be brought into a more modern home. Often the designs focus on themes of flora and fauna with fresh and interesting colour palettes. If you feel curtains may be too traditional a simple roman blind can give a cleaner finish adding a modern twist. While including a simple cushion or lampshade can give a nod to the style without it overpowering the room.
In a style where craftsmanship is key it can be really fun to combine fabrics to show off a multitude of designs. Varying the scale of the prints is a great way to prevent it from feeling overpowering.
